FAQs

  • Reflexology is a complimentary therapy involving the application of pressure on different points on the feet. Reflexologists use specific thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques to manipulate reflex areas in the feet that correspond to all organs, glands, and parts of your body. By stimulating these reflexes, the blood and nerve supply is increased to the corresponding part of the body that needs balancing. Reflexology is different to a foot massage and cannot be used as a substiture for conventional medical treatment.

  • A reflexologist will aim to bring your body back in to balance. There are many nerve endings at the bottom of the feet and when these are worked on, messages are sent to the corresponding part of the body and the brain. Any blockages in nerve and/ or blood supply can be released, and circulation can be boosted which aids the bodies journey to heal itself.

  • Reflexology is particularly beneficial for the relief of stress, tension and anxiety. It also rebalances hormones, boosts your immune system, improves your sleep, flushes the body of toxins, and generally boosts energy levels.

Other improvements that can be experienced are the improvements of symptoms related to:

    • Arthritis and joint pain

    • Digestive health

    • Fertility and pregnancy

    • Headaches and migraines

    • Muscle aches and pains

    • Stress and anxiety

    • Respiratory health

    • Women’s health

    • Sleep disorders and insomnia

  • One off treatments are great for general relaxation and stress reduction.

If someone has a specific health condition or problem that has been present and developing over many years I normally recommend a course of 5 weekly treatments. Generally, a person responds very well to weekly treatments until they feel an improvement in their symptoms, then it would be good to lengthen the gap between sessions, fortnightly then to 4 weekly or monthly.

It really does depend on what symptoms the person is presenting and what is going on with their health. After completing a course of treatments for any specific condition, many clients find it helpful to continue with treatments on a regular but less frequent basis (often monthly), in order to maintain a state of good health and well-being.

  • Reflexologists are not medically trained and therefore cannot diagnose. If you are feeling unwell and concerned you should seek advice from a medical expert.

Reflexology is a complementary health therapy. It works alongside conventional medicine and shouldn’t be used on its own as an alternative.

  • Always make sure your reflexologist is qualified, fully insured and choose a practitioner you feel comfortable with. There are lots of different reflexologists out there and hopefully you can find one you resonate with.

If you are located in the UK, a great resource for finding a reflexologist is going to the Association of Reflexologists website and using their search function.

  • Reflexology shouldn’t be painful, however your first reflexology appointment is likely to be the most uncomfortable. You may experience discomfort as sensitive or areas with tension are worked on. Over time, and a number of treatments, this will improve, and within a few sessions you should expect it to become more comfortable.

  • I have an online booking system. However if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to fill out my contact form or call me on 07960635624.

  • Your first session will take about 75 minutes which includes a full consultation. Subsequent sessions are about 60 minutes.

I also offer extended 90 minute sessions for a deeper, more restorative experience.

Please see my treatments page for more details.

  • Treatments are fully clothed. I advise clients to wear something loose and comfortable. During the session only your and ankles will be exposed. However I do work the the calve muscles.

I have a reflexology reclining couch which is heated when needed.

I have fluffy blankets when you want to feel more cosy.
